What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is one of the oldest holistic therapies originating from Egypt, India and China. It is a non intrusive therapy, treating the whole person not just prevailing symptoms….any congestion or tension can be represented in the feet.

It works on the principle that there are reflexes on the hands and feet that represent the organs, glands and parts of the body. Reflexologists use their fingers and thumbs, applying firm but relaxing pressure to your hands or feet.

Specific points and reflexes are manipulated using a unique method of stimulation. It will result in many benefits.

Who can benefit from reflexology?

Reflexology is beneficial to everyone, of any age, men and women. It can benefit general good health and well being as well as bringing relief from many acute and chronic conditions.

It will result in a number of benefits, these may include:

• Stress relief • Endorphin release
• Deep relaxation • Holistic balance
• Improved circulation • Preventative health care
• Symptom relief • Well being

Reflexology is now well thought of in many medical spheres many doctors, consultants and healthcare professionals recognise the benefits of reflexology.

How can reflexology help you?

Reflexology can help to maintain good health, restore, equalibrate and harmonise the body’s natural fine balance. The benefits of reflexology are many and varied.

Reflexology can be effective with many conditions including:

• Anxiety & stress • Sinus issues
• Back pain • Sports injuries
• Hormonal imbalances • Maternity & fertility
• Digestive disorders • Migraine & headaches

Its benefits are however not wholly restricted to the above.

What happens at a reflexology session?

At the first session I take a medical and lifestyle history to establish all of your individual needs, to enable me to tailor a personal programme best suited for you.

The feet or hands are massaged to promote relaxation. The reflexes are then stimulated, the specific method and pressure are unique to each person; as are the results - unique for each person. Imbalances or changes can be detected in your hands and feet. By stimulating these reflexes it can help to encourage balance in these areas. The session ends with a final massage to your feet.

From here I can suggest what is the best course of treatment for you & your healthcare needs. This maybe a course of reflexology or a monthly session.

How long will the session last?

The first session includes a free consultation so please allow up to 1.5 hours, subsequent sessions will last up to 1 hour.

How will I feel after reflexology?

Most clients feel relaxed and have a feeling of well being from reflexology. Usually, most clients find they have a definite
response after 2-4 sessions.

Some go through a transitional, temporary phase of feeling tired and a little under the weather, a time when the body is
balancing and harmonising.
